Welcome to the SEC...

...Welcome to Aggie Football!!! ( Quote of the weekend!!!)

Chris and I, along with 7 other friends drove to Oxford, Mississippi for the Texas A&M / Ole Miss football game. Let me tell you... 9 people in an RV, is a little tight! HA but we had a great time.

and a HUGE!!!!!!! THANK YOU to my parents for watching Archie so Chris and I could go on this trip! I can not express enough how blessed we are to have such amazing parents! I LOVE them to pieces!

We left Houston around 8pm, drove to Baton Rouge to pick up Zach (he went to high school with Tim) then made our way to Mississippi! We arrived around 7:30am and drove around campus to try and find the RV parking lot. Which was no where near campus! We definitely got our exercise in with all the walking we did!!

Friday consisted of going to Wal-Mart to stock up the RV, walking around campus, hanging out at the RV, and going to the Grove at 9pm to see everyone set up their tailgate spots.

18 was Archie Manning's number so they made it the speed limit around campus!

Walk of Champions is in the Grove and about 2 hours before the game, the Ole Miss football team walks down it to the stadium.

The Grove

We snuck onto the field!

Here at A&M you can start setting up on Friday at noon. Everyone knows your spot and there isn't any fighting or people having to "save their spot". At Ole Miss, they have people (students) sit out in the Grove to claim their spot. People even pay the kids to stay there all day and sit until 9. We even heard that some people pay tent companies to come out and set everything up for them. CRAZY!!

After hanging out at the Grove for a bit, we walked to the Square ( kind of like Northgate) for dinner and drinks! We ate at a place called Abner's Famous Chicken Tenders. They had this place all decked out in famous Ole Miss sports memorabilia. Among the pictures on the wall, was a picture of the baseball team cheering... After looking at the picture for a bit, I realized I knew one of the guys! My friend Bryce (who Ive known since elementary was in the picture!) He played baseball for Ole Miss for 2 years.

We then made our way along the Square to a bar/restaurant called Boure. It was nice, had an outdoor balcony (where we stood) but after one beer in, all of us were ready to go to bed. Some of the group only had a few hours of sleep. Plus, we all needed to be well rested for the game tomorrow :)

Saturday morning we woke up to freezing weather and rain!! BOO!! I am so not a cold weather fan at all! About 1:30p, We all started making the long trek to the Grove to tailgate.  Tailgating is a little different --- the girls dress up (dresses and heels, and the guys wear sports coats and bow ties!) Also, there are no generators so its nice and quiet, no one cooks, bc they cant have open flames so everyone gets their food catered, there were very few tv's out, and all the tents are set up side by side! They really pack it all in!!

Fast forward to the good part... the game!! For anyone living under a rock, A&M committed six turnovers. They had five penalties. They trailed by 10 points with fewer than eight minutes to go on the road against a Southeastern Conference opponent. And even with all that,  A&M still came away with a victory!!!

BBBBUUUURRRRRRRRR!!!!!

What a great night and what a great trip!!! Looking forward to the LSU home game!!
